Editorial Standards
How we know things.
Sourcing, dating, disclosing, and correcting an independent neighborhood guide.
Primary sources first
Where a claim can be checked against a public record, we cite the record rather than another website. Parcel dimensions, ownership history, and lot coverage come from Mecklenburg County POLARIS. Zoning, setbacks, and tree protection come from the City of Charlotte Unified Development Ordinance. School assignment comes from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Market statistics come from Canopy MLS. Hours, collections, and programs come from the institutions themselves.
Where editorial judgment begins
Price bands, block-by-block character assessments, comparisons between Eastover and neighboring areas, and design opinions are editorial. We label them that way and never present them as data. They are informed by local transaction experience and repeated observation, not by an appraisal method, and they are not a substitute for a licensed professional looking at a specific property.
Dating and staleness
Almost everything interesting about a neighborhood is perishable. Market conditions, school boundaries, ordinances, restaurant rosters, and museum programming all move. Every page carries publication and modification dates in its structured data, and where a figure has a short shelf life we say plainly that it should be re-verified before anyone relies on it.
What we will not publish
We do not publish individual property listings, asking prices for specific addresses, information about the identity or circumstances of residents, or claims about school quality dressed up as fact. We do not describe neighborhoods in terms that could signal a preference regarding any protected class.
Commercial relationships
This guide is funded by affiliated local firms, disclosed in full on our Advertising Disclosure page. Compensation never buys a factual claim, a position in an editorial comparison, or the removal of accurate information. Businesses we recommend with no relationship to us are mentioned because they are worth knowing about.
Corrections
If something here is wrong, we want to fix it quickly. Email npeters@yourleaderinluxury.com with the page address, the specific claim, and a source if you have one. Substantive corrections are made promptly and the page modification date is updated.
